RUSSELVILLE, Ark. – Ouachita freshman Caleb Greenwich was named the Great American Conference Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the third time this fall after another record-breaking performance at the Tiger Invitational on Friday.
Greenwich, a Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina native, finished first overall out of 40 runners over 8,000m with a time of 24:45.75 to set a new course record. His unparalleled finish beat the previous record of 25:12, set by Whit Lawrence in 2024. Greenwich paced the crew with his first collegiate win as four Tigers finished among the top five to secure a first-place team finish with a score of 17 in the regular season finale.Â
The freshman phenom broke the 8K program record in his second collegiate race after running a time of 24:31.60 at the Texas A&M Invitational on Sept. 13. His personal-best finish shattered the previous record of 24:55, set by Ouachita Assistant Cross Country Coach Pat Ponder in 1985. Greenwich continues to stack more accolades in his promising breakout season and has established himself as a potential candidate for GAC Freshman of the Year.
Ouachita heads into the postseason with the GAC Cross Country Championship on Oct. 25 in Monticello, Ark.
