ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita men's cross country team closed out its regular season in commanding fashion Friday by capturing the Tiger Invitational title on its home course with a dominant team score of 17.
Freshman standout Caleb Greenwich continued his stellar season and cruised through the 8K course in 24:45.75 to claim first place out of 40 runners.
Sophomore Gabriel Metoyer surged to second place with a personal-best time of 24:57.14, shaving 30 seconds off his previous mark. Senior Evan Armitage finished in third at 25:01.67, and junior Tate Stacks took fourth at 25:18.74 to give Ouachita a clean sweep up front.
Junior Noah Embrey rounded out the Tigers' top five finishers in seventh with a time of 25:44.83.
The depth behind Ouachita's top five was equally impressive as freshman Henry Woods finished in eighth at 25:44.88, and senior Dylan Dew took ninth at 25:57.87. Freshman Isaac Pohlmeier (tenth, 26:04.18), junior Christian Kratz (11th, 26:27.87) and freshman Nick Wheeler (12th, 26:30.60) all finished within the top dozen and set new personal bests in the process.
Ouachita capped its regular season with another strong showing at a home meet and will now focus on the Great American Conference Championship, scheduled Oct. 25 in Monticello, Ark.
