ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita women's swimming team fell to Oklahoma Christian by a close margin on Wednesday night at home in the first duel meet of the season.
Final score was 107-97 in favor of the Eagles.
Junior
Anna Phelps was the lone swimmer for the Tigersharks with two first-place finishes, taking first in the 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle, while freshman
Kaitlyn Koenig, sophomore
Britta Andruss and senior
Jameson Tankersley all found wins in the evening.
Koenig won the 500-yard freestyle, Andruss won the 100-yard freestyle, and Tankersley won the 200-yard backstroke.
Ouachita's 400-yard medley relay A team finished less than a second behind OCU's A team. That Tigershark relay team was comprised of Tankersley,
Kaylee Stika, Phelps, and Andruss.
The Tigersharks took 13 points in the 200-yard freestyle with Phelps leading the way, followed by Ouachita swimmers in second and third in Andruss and Koenig.
Aurora Ruiz was a close second in the 400-yard individual medley. Eden Laturno added to Ouachita's point total with a second-place finish in the 500-yard freestyle behind Koenig.
The women of Ouachita swimming now have a week off before hosting Truman State next Friday, October 24.
