ARKADELPHIA — Ouachita's unbeaten run in Great American Conference play came to an end Saturday as the women's soccer team fell 2-0 to Harding at Kluck Field.
The Lady Bisons (6-5-1, 4-2-0 GAC) took control early in the 17th minute after freshman Mykala Ulrich found the back of the net off a precise crosser from sophomore Kloey Fullerton. Harding added insurance late in the 79th minute after senior Whitney Thomas converted a penalty kick to seal the road win.Â
Despite the deficit, the Tigers (4-5-4, 3-1-3 GAC) generated a late surge with six shots in the second half, including five shots on target. Harding junior goalkeeper Maysa Willis finished with five saves to preserve the clean sheet. Harding outshot Ouachita 13-9 and took advantage of an 8-5 edge in corner kicks. Â
Ouachita used two goalkeepers, including GAC goalkeeper of the week Taylor Hapgood, plus freshman Rylie LeBlanc, to split each half defending the net. The pair combined to collect five saves, while both allowed the Bisons to score one goal. Â
Ouachita will have an opportunity to bounce back on the road Wednesday, Oct. 22, when the Tigers travel to take on Southern Nazarene in Bethany, Okla.
