TIGER VOLLEYBALL SECURES 10TH 20-WIN SEASON

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita volleyball team earned its 20th victory of the season and moved to 10-0 in Great American Conference play on Thursday night at home in a three-set sweep over Southern Nazarene.

The Tigers are now 20-3 overall, marking the second straight 20-win season and the 10th in program history. Final set scores on Thursday were 25-21, 25-18, and 25-17.

The first set was back-and-forth all the way until the teams hit the 20-point mark. The Tigers went on 5-0 run to close out the frame, which lit a fire for a powerful second set. The Tigers hit .533 in the second set with 18 kills and only two errors on 30 swings.

SNU (8-14, 3-7 GAC) also had an efficient performance in the second set to keep the game close, but the lead changed only once early, and the Tigers stayed on top the rest of the way, winning six of the last eight rallies to go up 2-0 in the match.

After a tight battle early in the third, the Tigers ran away with it at the end, highlighted by a 7-0 run to earn their first match point at 24-15.

Kailey Thedford paced the Tiger offense with 18 kills and only two errors on 41 swings for a .390 percentage.

Riley Braziel posted a match-high 15 digs and added 11 kills for her fifth double-double this season. Haley Fairchild led the defensive effort at the net with four blocks, while also posting seven kills and no errors on 10 swings for a .700 percentage.

Peyton Church and Kylie Kisgen reached double digits in digs with 14 and 12, respectively.

Courtney Hanson had stats in almost every category, finishing with a match-high 38 assists to go along with five kills, six digs, three blocks, and one service ace.

The Tigers are back in action on Friday night at home against Oklahoma Baptist. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
