RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – For the second straight week and third time this season, Ouachita's
Courtney Hanson has been selected as the Great American Conference Volleyball Setter of the Week.
The honor is Hanson's 11th of her Ouachita career, and it comes after another undefeated week for the Tigers, who remain in first place in the league at 19-3 overall and 9-0 in GAC matches. Ouachita went on the road to Oklahoma last week and did not drop a set in GAC sweeps over East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
For the week, Hanson led the league in assists per set (11) and combined for 66 total in the two wins.
The Arlington, Texas native started with 27 assists, eight digs, three kills, and one block in the win over East Central in a battle of Tigers. A day later, she posted 39 assists, 10 digs, and two kills against the Savage Storm. The 39 assists against Southeastern was the highest total in the league this week in three-set matches.
In addition to her setting performances, Hanson did not commit an attack error in the two victories, coming away with five kills on 14 swings for a .357 percentage. The 10 digs against Southeastern marked her 14th double-double of the season.
Hanson and the Tigers are back in action this week at home, starting with Southern Nazarene on Thursday night for a Pink Out match. The first 75 Ouachita students will receive a free Dig Pink shirt. First serve is set for 6 p.m. Thursday. On Friday, the Tigers host Oklahoma Baptist starting at 5 p.m. for Ouachita Volleyball Alumni Day.
