ARKADELPHIA — With just 90 seconds left to play Thursday, Ouachita junior forward Reese Brown recovered her own rebound to deliver the late winner and lift the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over Northwestern Oklahoma State at Kluck Field.
After junior Lennon Porter fired a shot from just outside the box that was denied, but bounced away from the Rangers' goalkeeper, Brown crashed into the box to secure the rebound. Brown's initial shot ricocheted off the left post, but she stayed with it, collecting her own rebound to bury her third goal of the season in the 89th minute.
The Tigers outshot the Rangers 9-8 and controlled much of the match with a 56% possession advantage. Ouachita applied relentless pressure, earning nine corner kicks, while limiting the Rangers to one.
Midfielders McKenna Wright and Madi Vana led the Tigers with five shots combined, including three shots on target. NWOSU (10-3-2, 5-3-1) could not break past to solve sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Hapgood, who anchored the defense with four saves to register her fourth shutout of the season.
With the win, Ouachita (6-6-4, 5-2-3 GAC) secured a critical conference win to close out October and clinch a berth into the GAC tournament.
