SHAWNEE, Okla. – Ouachita senior midfielder Ava Dunagan delivered a late goal in the clutch Saturday to lift the Tigers to a 1-0 win over Oklahoma Baptist and give the women's soccer team their first road win of the season at the OBU Soccer Complex.
The Tigers (3-4-2, 2-0-1 GAC) ramped up the pressure in the second half to set up their offense with eight corner kicks and finally broke through in the 82nd minute. Following another corner kick with just over eight minutes left to play, Ouachita sophomore Tracey Smith gained possession near the edge of the box and slipped an assist to Dunagan, who buried the winner from close range to take the late lead.Â
The match remained a defensive battle as both teams were limited to just two shots on goal. Despite a 10-5 shot advantage for Oklahoma Baptist, the Tigers kept the Bison (1-6-3, 1-3-0 GAC) scoreless to remain unbeaten in Great American Conference play. Ouachita sophomore goalkeeper Taylor Hapgood played all 90 minutes and secured two key saves in the first half to earn her second career shutout.Â
The Tigers continue their conference road trip on Thursday, Oct. 9, at Southwestern Oklahoma State in Weatherford, Okla.Â
