WICHITA, Kan. – The Ouachita men's soccer team fell on the road to Newman 1-0 Thursday at Wilkins Field.

After a scoreless opening half, the Jets (5-2-3, 2-1-1 GAC) broke through in the 62nd minute when graduate senior Gregoire Henri capitalized on a free kick opportunity. Henri slipped his third goal of the season through the right side of the net on an assist from junior Tomas Melon. 

Ouachita junior forward Cody Tice was active with three shot attempts. In the first half, Tice forced a save from Newman goalkeeper Francisco Pinochet on a strike from 30-yards out. Tice tried one last ditch effort to tie it up in the final seconds, but his shot sailed high left.

Redshirt-freshman goalkeeper Landon Summers made his second start for the Tigers and secured two saves across 80 minutes of play before senior Dillon Staal took over in the final stretch.

With the loss, Ouachita falls to 1-6-2 and 0-4 in Great American Conference play. The Jets outshot the Tigers 13-10, while both teams were limited to landing three shots on target. 

The Tigers will remain in Kansas to face GAC standings leader Fort Hays State (7-0-2, 3-0 GAC) on Saturday at noon.
