LITTLE ROCK — The Ouachita wrestling team opened its 2025-26 season falling 47-0 to No. 11 Central Oklahoma at the Jack Stephens Center in Little Rock.
The nationally ranked Bronchos lived up to their billing, earning wins in all 10 weight classes, while picking up four pins and two technical falls. Top-ranked, 133-pound senior Jimmy Anderson dropped his season opener bout to UCO's Jason Henschel by a final score of 10-5. Ouachita junior 165-pounder Sam Schmidt went the distance, but lost 8-2 to UCO's Bryce Dauphin.Â
Ouchita's best chance to earn a win was in the final bout at heavyweight. After the mat referee awarded UCO's Ryan Nichols a stalling point late in the third period, Ouachita junior BK Seago used a reattack to grab an outside single leg and transition to a double leg before dumping Nichols on his backside for a three-point takedown to seize a 4-2 lead. Seago pushed his match into sudden victory before ultimately dropping a 7-4 decision to Nichols.Â
The Tigers (0-1) have a chance to move past the season opener loss with a home meet against Drury on Wednesday scheduled to start at 6 p.m. at the Sturgis Physical Education Center in Arkadelphia.Â
