RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Great American Conference has selected Ouachita's
Madeleine Tipton as its women's basketball offensive player of the week for her efforts last week in wins over Missouri Western and Arkansas-Fort Smith.
Tipton recorded the 10th and 11th 20-point games of her career in last week's wins over the Griffons and the Lions. She led the GAC in total points for the week with 45 and was a half-point off the league-leader in scoring average at 22.5.
Scoring was not Tipton's only production throughout the week. The senior from Vilonia also combined for 12 rebounds and nine assists in the two contests.
On Monday of last week, Tipton dropped 21 points, seven rebounds, and six assists in a 78-70 win at home over Missouri Western. She shot 5-for-9 from the field and was instrumental down the stretch at the free throw line, finishing 9-for-11.
Following the Thanksgiving holiday, Tipton led the Tigers in a thrilling overtime victory on the road over UAFS on Saturday by a final score of 80-76. She scored a season-high 24 points, highlighted by five three-pointers.
Tipton and the 3-1 Tigers open up Great American Conference play this Thursday and Saturday at home against East Central and Southeastern Oklahoma State.
