CLEVELAND, Mississippi – The No. 14 Ouachita men's swimming and diving team completed its undefeated regular season with a 339-298 win over No. 15 Delta State on day two of the DSU Statesmen Shootout.
Three Tigersharks posted three event A-Final wins to help Ouachita take down the Statesmen for the third time this season.
Zsombor Bujdoso won the 400 IM by almost four seconds with a time of 4:00.61. Bujdoso also placed third in the 200 Breaststroke A-Final with a time of 2:03.51, 0.20 seconds out of second place.
Daniel Meszaros won the 100 Freestyle by just 0.02 seconds with an NCAA B-Cut time of 44.13. Meszaros also placed second in the 100 Butterfly with a time of 48.86, 0.27 seconds out of first place.
Miles Schulze won the 200 Breaststroke by almost three seconds with an NCAA B-Cut time of 2:00.48.
In total, Ouachita tallied nine A-Final top three finishes.
Tyler Andruss took second in the 500 Freestyle with a time of 4:35.61, less than three seconds out of first place.
Elijah Donaldson finished third in the 3-Meter Dive with a score of 457.20 points, less than three points shy of the NCAA Qualifying mark.
David Ware placed third in the 200 Backstroke with a time of 1:49.76, 0.41 seconds out of second place.
The 200 Freestyle relay squad of
Sam Ragsdell, Ian Redman, Ware, and Meszaros took second with a time of 1:22.27, less than two seconds out of first.
The Tigersharks close the regular season with an undefeated record of 10-0 in dual meets, including a 5-0 record in NSISC competition. Ouachita totaled six dual meet wins over top 25 teams, including two wins over cross-street rival Henderson State and three wins over Delta State. In addition to the dual wins, the Tigersharks also earned wins at the All-Arkansas Invitational and the Delta State Thanksgiving Invitational. The is the first undefeated regular season for the Tigersharks in the NCAA Era.
Now, the Tigersharks will be preparing for the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships that will take place on February 18-22 in Cleveland, Mississippi. Ouachita will be looking for its first NSISC title since 2000.
