TIGERS SET THE PACE IN GAC ALL-SPORTS STANDINGS

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – For the second time in the last three years, Ouachita Baptist University is in first place of the Great American Conference Commissioner's Cup and President's Trophy standings following the fall seasons.

Ouachita turned in the most successful fall semester in school history with four of five teams winning a GAC championship and participating in NCAA postseason competition.

The Tigers won the GAC regular season championship in women's soccer and football. The women's cross country team captured its second conference championship in the past three years, while the volleyball team made an impressive run in the postseason to win the GAC tournament and make the NCAA tournament for the first time in program history. The women's soccer team also won the GAC tournament and advanced to the NCAA tournament.

Ouachita earned 44 points in the commissioner's cup race during the fall, which equates to 86.27 percent of the points available. The commissioner's cup awards points based on where each team finished in the conference standings. The president's cup awards based on the highest percentage of available points in each sport.

"Ouachita has never seen the level of success across the board like what we are witnessing right now," said Director of Athletics David Sharp. "It's a true testament to the commitment from our coaches, student-athletes, administration, and supporters. I'm so proud of all of our teams, but I specifically want to commend Coach Knight (football), Coach Guymon (cross country), Coach Frizzell-Kizer (volleyball), and Coach Wright (women's soccer) and the student-athletes in those sports for a job well done this past season and for the ongoing efforts to make our programs better."

The final all-sports standings will be announced following the conclusion of the spring sports.
