LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Ouachita swimming & diving teams opened the 2025-26 season on Saturday with a notable showing at the All-Arkansas Invitational hosted by Little Rock.
The men's team finished second out of four teams. The women's team came in third out of six. On the men's side, the Tigersharks were competing against Henderson State, Hendrix, and the Harding club team. The women's team was up against Arkansas, Little Rock, Henderson, Hendrix, and Harding's club team.
The men's performances were highlighted by the freestyle events.
James Savarese was a part of three top three finishes, including third in the 50-yard freestyle, and second in the 200-yard freestyle relay and the 400-yard freestyle relay. He was joined in the 200-yard relay by teammates
Dylan Moreno,
Colton Martinez, and
Landon Dehn. In the 400-yard relay, he was swam with Moreno,
Caleb Guthrie, and
Gavin Bolton.
The highlights for the women's events were scattered. The 200-yard freestyle relay team of
Sophie Derby,
Kaylee Stika,
Sophia LeMaire, and
McKenzie Jones came in fourth as the top non-D1 team in the event.
Aurora Ruiz was the top non-D1 swimmer in the 500-yard freestyle in sixth.
Sophie Derby had high finishes in the 100-yard butterfly and 50-yard freestyle.
Janna Moellenhoff was the top non-D1 swimmer in the 50-yard freestyle in eighth.
The Tigersharks are back in the water next Saturday, September 27 in Edmond, Oklahoma at the Sam Freas Invitational hosted by Oklahoma Christian.
