MEMPHIS, Tennessee – Christian Brothers scored a pair of first-half goals and added another in the late minutes to defend its home field and defeat Ouachita 3-0 on Saturday night.
The Bucs scored their first goal in the 40th minute and then went up 2-0 in the final seconds of the first half. The final score came in the 87th minute.
CBU held Ouachita to just three shots and one on goal. The Bucs, meanwhile, finished with 16 total shots and eight on goal to go along with a 6-0 margin in corner kicks.
After the missing the season opener, Ouachita's
Dillon Staal returned to the lineup and played the full 90 minutes in goal with five saves. Also playing the full 90 were defenders
Hunter Reck,
Xavier O'Dwyer, and Luke Grisby along with midfielder
Andrew Castellanos.
The Tigers drop to 0-1-1. CBU improves to 2-0. Ouachita is back in action next Saturday, September 13 in its home opener against Hendrix College, which will also serve as Youth Soccer Day to recognize the local league members in Arkadelphia. Kickoff next Saturday is set for 4 p.m. at Kluck Field.
