SEARCY, Arkansas – The Ouachita women's basketball team went blow for blow with 11th-ranked Harding through the first 17 minutes, but the league-leading Bisons pulled away late in the second period and maintained that pace in the final 20 minutes for what ended up being a 94-77 road loss for the Tigers on Monday night.
Both teams were efficient in the first two periods with the Tigers shooting 58 percent from the field and the Bisons knocking down shots at a 56 percent clip.
Ouachita rallied to take a 42-41 lead with 3:23 remaining in the second period on three-pointers from
Audri Winfrey and
Madeleine Tipton, but the Bisons closed out the half on an 8-0 run to hold a 48-42 advantage at the break.
Harding improved its shooting percentages in the second half to above 60 percent, while the Tigers dropped down to 33 percent in the final two periods, which allowed the Bisons to separate.
Tipton had a monster night with a game-high 30 points, which was her first 30-point effort of the season and the second of her career.
Heidi Robinson added 18 points.
The Tigers are back in Arkadelphia this Thursday and Saturday, crossing the street on Thursday night to take on Henderson State and then hosting Arkansas Tech on Saturday afternoon.
