ARKADELPHIA – The 36th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team earned its third consecutive MIAA/GAC victory with a 5-2 win over 50th-ranked Southern Arkansas at home Wednesday.
The Tigers opened the match with a sweep in doubles play, highlighted by a 6-3 win on court one from Ouachita's nationally ranked duo of
Yarin Aebi and
Ramon Strassmann over Southern Arkansas' seventh-ranked tandem of Uwe Diehl and Jonas Sommer. Aebi and Strassmann entered the week ranked No. 26 nationally.
Ouachita's other ranked doubles pair,
Aaron Osmond and
Moritz Buss (No. 19), secured a 6-4 win on court two.
Tinus Mueller and
Maximilian Brenner completed the sweep with a 6-1 victory on court three.
In singles play, the Tigers picked up straight-set wins from Buss on court three and Brenner on court six.
Guillaume Randoux and Strassmann added victories on courts four and one, respectively, to clinch the match.
Ouachita returns to action Saturday on the road in a rematch against Mississippi College. The 17th-ranked Choctaws won the first meeting 6-1 in Arkadelphia on March 2.
