TOPEKA, Kansas – The Ouachita men's tennis team extended its season with a 4-2 win over Northwest Missouri State on Monday in the first round of the NCAA Central Region Tournament.
Monday's win gave the Tigers the edge in the season series against the Bearcats, who most recently beat Ouachita in the first round of the MIAA/GAC Championship Tournament. The Tigers won the first matchup in February at home.
The victory also advances Ouachita in the bracket to face No. 1 seed and tournament host Washburn on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
Monday's victory started with convincing doubles wins for the Tigers with
Ramon Strassmann and
Yarin Aebi winning 6-3 on court one and
Aaron Osmond and
Moritz Buss winning 6-2 on court two.
In singles, the teams swapped wins on courts six, four, three, and two before Osmond sealed the match victory with a three-set win on court five. Other Tiger singles victories were from Buss and
Guillaume Randoux.
