OUACHITA ATHLETICS FINISHES THIRD IN GAC ALL-SPORTS RACES

RUSSELLVILLE, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University Athletics Department has completed another successful season including setting new school records in the Great American Conference all-sports standings.

Following a banner year in 2024-25, the Tigers were near the top of the league once again in 2025-26 with a third-place finish in the GAC Commissioner's Cup standings, which is based on total points, and a third-place finish in the GAC President's Trophy standings, which is based on percentage points. The No. 3 spot in the GAC President's Trophy is a new school-best for the Tigers.

Ouachita broke school records in both races with 84.5 total points, which equates to 69.26 percent of the total points available. The Tigers had six top three finishes over the past year, highlighted by a regular season conference championship in volleyball and runner-up finishes in men's basketball and women's cross country. Both track & field teams and the women's soccer team all finished third in their respective standings.

"The success of our teams is at an all-time high right now, and it's all due to the hard work and determination of our student-athletes, coaches, and staff," said Ouachita Director of Athletics David Sharp. "These men and women are doings things the right way and representing our great university in a phenomenal manner. I'm so thankful for them and proud of what they have accomplished. I'm looking forward to another great year in 2026-27."

The GAC awards the Commissioner's Cup to the GAC school that totals the most cumulative points in the 14 countable sports of men's and women's cross country, football, volleyball, women's soccer, men's and women's basketball, women's tennis, men's and women's track & field, men's and women's golf, softball and baseball while the President's Trophy goes to the program that earns the highest percentage of points based on the sports it sponsors.
