ARKADELPHIA - Ouachita Baptist University men's soccer edged Union 1‑0 on Thursday afternoon at Kluck Field in a tightly contested match that hinged on a single second‑half strike, courtesy of freshman
Eric Godoy's first collegiate goal.
Union and Ouachita entered the halftime break dead‑locked at 0‑0. Union was modest on offense in the first 45 minutes of play, mustering just two shots, while Ouachita tallied eight shots in the first half.
Early in the second half, Godoy found the bottom right part of the net on a pass and assist from
Andrew Castellanos in the 50th minute, giving the Tigers the 1-0 lead.
The lone goal proved to be enough, as the Tiger defense held the Bulldogs to just six shots, one on goal, in 90 minutes. Ouachita outshot the Bulldogs 28-6 and 5-1 in shots-on-goal.
Ouachita is back in action on Saturday, August 29 against Ecclesia College. Kickoff is slated for 3 p.m. at Kluck Field.
