SHAWNEE, Oklahoma — The Ouachita volleyball team fell to Emporia State 3-0 on Thursday in the squad's first match of the GAC/MIAA Crossover Challenge.
Final set scores were 25-19, 25-19, and 25-20.
The Hornets controlled much of the first set and separated from the Tigers late, winning eight of the final 10 rallies.
Ouachita controlled the early parts of the second and third sets, leading by four early in the second and seven midway through the third. ESU rallied back twice to finish the match with a sweep.
Leah Gardner led the Tigers offensively with seven kills and a .429 hitting percentage. Mack Bidwell, Sophie Henry, and Kylie Craven all added five kills apiece.
Bidwell turned in a double-double of 19 assists and 12 digs. Kylie Kisgen and Delaney Gonzalez also reached double digits in digs with 15 and 12, respectively.
The Tigers are back in action with a pair of matches on Friday, taking on Fort Hays State at 11 a.m. and Pitt State at 6 p.m.
