ARKADELPHIA, AR- The Lady Tigers (4-3, 2-1 GAC) soccer team hosted two matches this weekend, starting with a game against Southwestern Oklahoma on Friday and followed by a match-up with East Central University on Sunday. The Lady Tigers split the games, finishing the weekend with a 2-1 conference record.
In their game against Southwestern Oklahoma, the Lady Tiger offense shot the ball a total of 22 times, but not one of them reached the back of the net. The Lady Bulldogs only got three shot attempts in the game, but made the best of one late in the game, when Courtney Hailey netted a ball in the 88th minute, scoring the only goal of the game and handing the Lady Tigers their first Great American Conference loss.
On Sunday, the Lady Tigers looked to rebound from their lost to Southwestern, and they would do so without a hitch, defeating East Central by a final score of 2-0. Ouachita took a total of 16 shots in the contest, while only allowing East Central to take three, only one of which was on goal and saved by senior goalie
Whitley Hoppe. The Lady Tigers goals both came in the second half, after the game was knotted at 0 after one half of play. The first goal for Ouachita came at the 78:38 mark of the game, when junior
Brittany Davidson netted her first goal of the season on an assist from senior
Miranda Lytle. The Lady Tigers would not let up on East Central though, as they would score again at the 87:33 mark of the game, when Lytle would score a goal of her own, after the East Central goalkeeper was unable to handle a shot attempt from another Lady Tiger player, forcing the score to 2-0 and sealing a victory for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers return to action on October 7, when they travel to Pensacola, Florida for a match-up with former conference foe West Florida.
