MONTICELLO, AR- Following a five set loss to Southern Arkansas on Tuesday, the Ouachita Lady Tiger volleyball team (12-10, 3-5 GAC) traveled to Monticello, Arkansas to face off with the Cotton Blossoms (3-16, 1-7 GAC). The contest was back and forth, neither team gaining a lead of more than a set, until Ouachita implemented their will upon the Cotton Blossoms in the fifth set, taking the match by a score of 3-2.
The Lady Tigers took the first set by a score of 27-25, before UAM rebounded and took the second set 25-23. The Cotton Blossoms would take the third set from the Lady Tigers as well by a score of 25-21, followed by the most lopsided set of the game, when the Lady Tigers tied the game at 2-2 with a 25-15 win in the fourth set. During the fifth set, the Lady TIgers continued rolling, winning by a score of 15-9 and walking away with the conference victory.
The Lady Tigers were led by senior 
Lexie Hegi, who collected 43 of the 54 assists for Ouachita, and as a sidenote, recently surpassed 3,000 assists in her career at Ouachita. Also notable was junior 
Allison Frizzell, who collected 25 digs, and senior 
Kristyn Howk, who was credited with 15 kills in the match. Junior 
Megan Askew contributed to the cause as well, with 14 kills of her own.
UAM was led by Bailie Jedlicka, who collected 19 kills in the match, as well as Allison Beardsley, who collected 30 digs in the contest.
The Lady Tigers return to action on Tuesday, October 11, when they travel to Russellville and look to knock off the Arkansas Tech Golden Suns in another conference game. That match-up will begin at 7 p.m.
