Lady Tigers' Late Effort Falls Short in Home Loss to Harding

Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark.- The Ouachita Lady Tigers (4-10, 1-2 GAC) hosted the Lady Bison of Harding University (10-3, 3-0 GAC) on Thursday night, posting a miraculous late game performance. The Lady Tigers started off the game losing the first two sets, but rebounded and won the third, which they followed with a stellar late set performance in the fourth set. Sadly though, Ouachita's efforts fell short against Harding and they lost the game by a score of 3-1.

The Lady Tigers dropped the first set by a score of 25-11, as they struggled to get anything going. Harding on the other hand, was quite the opposite, coming out and putting up 12 kills and not committing any errors.

The Lady Tigers would bounce back in the second set though, as they held themselves to only four errors with 10 kills, but again they would fall just short, as Harding took the set by a score of 25-22, but not without some struggles of their own, as they committed eight errors during the set.

Ouachita started clicking on all cylinders in the third set though, as they took it by a score of 25-21. They recorded 12 kills and only committed three errors in the contest. They forced nine errors by the Lady Bison as well. There were five tie scores in the set, as well as four lead changes.

During the fourth set, it appeared that the Lady Tigers were going to force the game to a fifth, as they continued to force long rallies and keep things even with Harding, it wasn't to be though, as Harding put the nail in the coffin and closed out the game with a 28-26 victory. Ouachita finished the set with 12 kills and five errors. The set was as interesting as could be though, with 17 tie scores and eight lead changes.

Ouachita's Allison Frizzell recorded 25 digs, while Chelsey Hess recorded 14 as well. Savannah White and Sara Mitchell both posted double digit totals of digs with 10 each. White led the team with 24 assists, with Mitchell registering 15.

Megan Askew was a force on offense and defense for Ouachita, recording nine kills and eight blocks in the contest. Kelley Ballard and Abby Pickett both posted strong performances at the net as well, with four blocks each.

Ouachita will continue conference play on Tuesday, September 25, when they travel to Russellville for a match-up against the Golden Suns of Arkansas Tech.
