Box Score BETHANY, Okla. – The Lady Tigers grabbed a 1-0 victory on Friday, over the Southern Nazarene Crimson Storm.
Despite Southern Nazarene's dangerous offense that took a total of 24 shots in the game, the defense for the Lady Tigers did not give up a single goal. Reigning GAC Goalkeeper of the Week,
Sarah Broyles had an incredible performance, finishing with nine saves in the shutout.
The two teams finished the first half still tied 0-0, and most of the second half was the same story. With ten minutes left in the contest, however, sophomore
Haley Hatcher scored on a shot from 15 yards out. The single goal was all the Lady Tigers needed to steal the win, as the game ended 1-0.
Six Lady Tigers played all 90 minutes in the game, never showing signs of fatigue. Freshmen
Madison Trussell and
Tessa Woodcock, and sophomore
Morgan Allen were on the field the entire game for OBU's defense. Senior
Morgan Pitchford started and finished the game at midfield, and Hatcher played all 90 minutes at forward. Broyles also was in at keeper for the full 90 minutes.
The Lady Tigers improved their undefeated conference record to 3-0-1, which is the best record in the Great American Conference.
The women take the field again on Sunday, as they go up against East Central University in Ada, Okla. Kickoff is at 1:00 p.m.
