Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tigers fell to the Texas A&M-Commerce Lions on Saturday, 3-0. Set scores were 25-16, 28-26, 25-20.
The Tigers received support from the bench early, as
Julie Stanley subbed into the game in the first set and recorded three kills and a block assist for the Tigers. OBU struggled in the first set, however, losing 25-16, but battled back to force two close sets against their tough non-conference opponent.
In the second set, the Lions grabbed a 13-8 lead, but OBU climbed back into the set and finally took the lead at 25-24. The Tigers were not able to hold on, however, as the Lions snagged the 28-26 win.
The Tigers took the early lead in the third set and maintained it for most of the set. A&M Commerce eventually took the lead at 19-18 and went on to steal the victory.
The match featured an overall team effort from the Tigers, in which six Tigers had at least 15 attacks, and two Tigers had at least 10 digs. OBU also had a match-high 10 blocks.
Kelley Ballard and
Tara Wait led Ouachita in kills, both scoring seven. Wait also led the team with 20 assists and three aces.
Chelsey Hess finished with a team-high 11 digs, followed by
Anna Holcomb with 10.
Stephanie Pollnow spent most of the match above the net, recording a match-high nine block assists.
