BOLIVAR, Mo. – The #18 Ouachita Tigers won their fourth consecutive match on Friday, defeating the #28 Southwest Baptist University Bearcats 5-2. Over the past seven days, Ouachita has defeated the Bearcats, #45 East Central University, Harding University and #27 University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Marko Boskovic, Division II's 26
th ranked singles player, lost just his third match of the 2015 season. Boskovic fell 6-3, 6-2 to Kristof Kinal, the 36
th ranked singles player. Boskovic did defeat Kinal 6-1, 7-6, however, earlier in the season.
The Tigers picked up singles wins from
Maciej Braciszewicz (6-4, 6-4),
Andre Stefano (6-5, 6-1) and
Lennart Lonnemann (1-6, 6-3, 6-2). Lonnemann is currently ranked seventh in the central region.
Vitor Oliveira and
Jason Mechali did not finish their singles matches, resulting in no final score.
In doubles, Boskovic and Oliveira teamed up to win 8-6. The two are ranked 21
st nationally and third in the region. Mechali and Braciszewicz fell 8-4 in the number-two doubles match, but Lonnemann and Stefano grabbed an 8-3 victory in the final doubles match.
The Tigers (12-4) are ranked first in the central region with one match remaining in the 2015 regular season. The final match will be on Tuesday, April 14, at the Heflin Tennis Center in Arkadelphia, as Ouachita hosts the University of Arkansas at Fort Smith. The matches are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
