St. Charles, Mo. - The Ouachita Tigers men's wrestling team faced the 10th-ranked Lindenwood Lions earlier today at Hyland Arena in St. Charles, Missouri. The Tigers fell 42-9 in the first dual action of 2016.
Weston Cronan and
Gunnar Smith each earned wins for the Tigers.
Weston Cronan got the Tigers out to an early 3-0 lead with a 5-0 decision win to open the dual. Cronan entered the match as the fifth-ranked 125-pounder in Super Region 3. After falling behind 6-3 due to a medical forfeit at 133 pounds, 141-pounder
Gunnar Smith would put the Tigers back on top, 9-6 with a win by fall in the first period of his match.
The Lions, ranked tenth in Division II and fourth in Super Region 3, responded by sweeping the remainder of the matches, despite strong performances by the Tigers. Ouachita entered the match ranked 11th in the Super Region 3 coaches poll.

The Tigers travel to Rome, Georgia to face Shorter University on January 16. The dual is scheduled for a 3:30 p.m. start.
