Ouachita falls in late decision to Lyon College

BATESVILLE, Ark. - The Ouachita Baptist Wrestling team dropped a 25-24 decision to Lyon College on Wednesday evening.

The Tigers fell down by 12-points after the opening pair of matches to the Fighting Scots. Ouachita forfeited the opening match to Lyon and then Weston Cronan (Flower Mound, Texas) lost the 133-pound weight class by way of pin-fall.

The Tigers battled back though in a big way in the 141 and 149-pound weight classes. Trey Waltz picked up a 5-3 decision over Tevin Sandoz to give the Tigers their first points of the match. Robert Otero (Tulsa, Oklahoma) defeated Al Ordonez 14-6 to bring Ouachita within 5-points of the Fighting Scots.

After a loss at the 157-pound weight class, Tyler Mann (Little Rock, Ark.) picked up the major decision victory over Arman Mansouri to bring the Tigers within 3-points. Ouachita dropped back-to-back matches to fall behind 24-12.

Justin Villagas (Allen, Texas) and Tanner Hawkins (Weatherford, Oklahoma) each picked up victories to close out the meet and tie the score at 24. Lyon won the tiebreak to pick up the victory.

The Ouachita Tigers wrestling team will be back in action of Feb. 3rd at the Missouri Valley Open, the meet is scheduled to begin at 9:00 a.m.
