ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – The Ouachita Tennis programs opened up the season on Friday and Saturday afternoon against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff and Seward County Community College.

Craig Ward said, "I have been giving the upper classmen more ownership in our practice and fitness training and I like what I saw today."
Ouachita (1-1) opened up the match by taking two out of three doubles matches against Arkansas Pine Bluff (0-1). The number one doubles pair of Lennart Lonneman and Dan Kaplan defeated Aravino Vangala and Le'Darrien Ledbetter 8-2. The number three doubles pair of Juan Moncada and Carlos Solorazano picked up the second point of the match for the Tigers with an 8-4 victory.
It did not take long for the Tigers to secure the victory as they won five out of six singles matches. Moncada picked up a 6-1. 6-2 win at No.1 singles to pick up his first win of the season. Kaplan picked up a straight sets victory at No.3 singles (6-1, 6-1), while Nair Adi did the same at the No.4 position (7-5, 6-2).
Braydon Montgomery and Carlos Solorazano also picked up straight set victories in the No. 5 and No. 6 singles positions to cap off the Tigers 7-2 victory. The only losses for the Tigers came at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles.

Craig Ward said, "I knew Seward would be a good test. We played very solid but when it came crunch time they were able to lift their games just enough to win. We learned today and we will get better."
It was a rough day for the Tigers as they were unable to figure out their opponents and were swept in the process. The matches were competitive and close throughout but it was clear that Seward County had the stronger team. Not a single match went to a third set in singles play as the Tigers suffered their first setback of the season.

It appears that the Ouachita Tigers women's tennis team will have to wait another match as to pick up their first win of the 2018 tennis season.
Seward County flexed their muscles from the start as Ouachita (0-1) could hardly win a game in any of the matches on Saturday afternoon.
