ARKADELPHIA, Ark. - Ouachita Baptist commands the game as they defeat Southwestern Oklahoma State University 75-67 at Bill Vining Arena.
Trey Harris lead the way for the Tigers as he scored 18 points and added six assists in the route of SWOSU.
Mahlon Martin added 15 points and five rebounds while
Wesley Franklin put in 13 points.
Kendarious Smith inserted himself on the glass adding eight rebounds to go along with his eight points.
Ouachita in the first half allowed the Bulldogs to jump out to an 7-4 lead, and the Tigers never trailed after the three point deficit. The Tigers went on a 14-3 run to give themselves a 8 point lead capped off by five straight points by
Trey Harris. The play of the game happened at 8:30 in the first as
Eric Brown threw a lob to
Kendarious Smith for the monster alley-oop.Â
Grant Jones would help the Tigers extend the lead to 11 with a layup at the 6:00 mark. The Bulldogs would cut it to as close as three but the Tigers always responded.
Trey Harris closed out the half by hitting a long three pointer as time expired off an assist from
Jacob Street.Â
Ouachita came out in the second half carrying the same intensity from the first.
Wesley Franklin and
Grant Jones would combine to score the first eight points of the half for the Tigers pushing the lead back to 12. The largest lead of the game was 14 which was accomplished on a three by
Trey Harris with 14:00 left in the game. The Bulldogs did not go away cutting the lead back down to three bef
ore the Tigers went on an 6-0 run to create a 57-49 lead.
Allie Freeman extended the lead back to double digits with a three at the 6:19 point. The Bulldogs got back within four points, but
Mahlon Martin closed out the game with four clutch free throws to give the tigers a 75-67 victory.
