BETHANY, Okla. – The Ouachita Baptist Tigers outshoot Southern Nazarene, but fall in the end to the number 19 ranked team in the nation.
Matt Stanley lead the Tigers with 14 points and five rebounds off the bench as he provided a spark when he entered the game.
Grant Jones went a perfect 4-4 from the field putting in 10 points for Ouachita. The Tigers will move to 4-5 on the season and 1-4 in Great American Conference play.
The first half began the hard fought decision as the Tigers and Crimson Storm went back and forth. The Tigers first lead of the game came on a
Matt Stanley layup to put OBU up 8-7. Neither team had control over the game, but the Tigers would go on a 4-0 run on buckets by
Wesley Franklin and
Matt Stanley. The Tigers then allowed the Crimson Storm to go on their own 12-0 run to take an eight point advantage. Ouachita would cut the lead to six on a last second
Mahlon Martin jumper to go into half with the score at 32-26.
Each team exchanged buckets to start the second half. At the 16:30 mark
Grant Jones made a three pointer to cut the Southern Nazarene lead to one point. Two more times the Tigers cut the lead to one but could never regain the lead. The Tigers never gave up and made it interesting on an
Eric Brown three with 12 seconds left to cut the lead to 4. However, the Tigers succumbed to the Crimson Storm with a final of 64-58.
