Box Score ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Volleyball crosses the street for the first Battle of the Ravine of the season and defeat Henderson State 3-1.
Coach Allison Frizzell Kizer on the win, "Tonight was a great team win. The Battle of the Ravine is always a fun intense game in a crowd inspiring atmosphere. I am proud of the chemistry we are continuing to improve on and am excited to see us battling throughout games."
Senior
Adrianna Nolly led the Tigers in the match with 12 kills, six blocks and five digs. Fellow senior
Tabatha Huckabee put in 10 kills and three blocks.
Outside hitter
Katie Camp added another double-double for the Tigers tallying 10 kills and 15 digs.
Lexie Castillow was everywhere for the Tigers accounting for 27 of Ouachita's 78 digs.
Setters
Temi Fayiga and
Joni Schneider both played well for the Tigers in the game combining for 45 assists and 15 digs. Schneider added another double-double to her freshman campaign with 15 assists and 11 digs.
Emily Low and
Rileigh Fielder both put in seven kills on 16 attempts and one error for .375 hitting percentage for Ouachita. They also each came up with two big digs for the Tigers in the victory.
The Tigers shot out of the gate capturing a quick 6-1 lead behind two kills from Nolly. They did not slow down extending the lead to 20-11 on a block by Nolly and Fielder. Low closed out the set with a kill giving the Tigers a 25-14 set one victory.
The second period began with a battle as there were eight ties within the first 11 points. After being tied at 11 the Tigers went on a 9-3 run headed up by
Abby Cagle who put in two big kills during the run. Fielder closed the set out with a kill assisted by Fayiga as the Tigers took the 2-0 set lead.
After dropping set three, the Tigers came out hungry for the win going up 7-1 on the Reddies. Ouachita allowed Henderson State to take the lead at 16-14; however, that was the last time the Reddies had the lead. The Tigers closed out the game on back to back kills by Cagle and Fielder.
