ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Tiger's Men's Tennis splits the week as they continue to build upon their strong start to the season.
The Tigers entered week two of the season with a 3-1 record off of a strong showing in Midlothian, Texas. Ouachita knocked off a top 25 team in the process seeing their freshmen shine.
On Thursday the Tigers were back at Ward Tennis Center for a matchup with Southwest Baptist. The Tigers would strike first as the doubles team of
Juan Moncada and
Francisco Oliveira would knock off their Southwest foes with a score of 6-1. However, the Tigers would drop the two other doubles matches putting Ouachita down 0-1 entering singles play.
In singles play
Tobias Fuerschuss would move to 3-1 on the season with his victory against Corser of Southwest Baptist. He would come back in the match after going down 2-6 in the first set and win with a final of 2-6, 6-4, 7-6. The Tigers, however, would drop the game 6-1 against Southwest Baptist.
The Tigers would be back in action the next day on February 15 against Mississippi College. Ouachita would start strong with two doubles wins as
Juan Moncada and
Francisco Oliveira won their matchup 6-0 and Carlos Solorzano and Javi Fito defeated their opponents 6-4.
In singles play the Tigers would win five out of six matchups. The winning ways would start with
Juan Moncada defeating his Mississippi College opponent 6-0, 6-2.
Francisco Oliveira would follow that win up with a victory of his own as he defeated Le Zullec 7-5, 6-1.
Santiago Kearney would be the victor in his matchup with a 6-1, 6-1 decision.
Nair Adi would defeat Mississippi College's McDaniel with a final of 6-0, 6-2. Lastly
Tobias Fuerschuss would go to 4-1 on the year in singles with his 6-0, 6-1 win.
The Tigers will return to action on February 23 in Texarkana, Texas against Jacksonville College.
