ARKADELPHIA, Ark. – Ouachita Tigers get huge contribution off of the bench, but can not capture a victory losing 86-71 to Southern Nazarene.
Kendarious Smith led the Tigers in scoring with 15 points while adding four rebounds and two steals.
Eric Brown led the bench scoring with 13 points making two out of three three-pointers.
The game started as a battle for the Tigers as
Wesley Franklin scored the first Ouachita basket at the 18:20 mark. The Tigers would battle though and take the lead on an
Eric Brown jumper exactly two minutes later.
Eric Brown would drain a three pointer with 13:52 to give the Tigers what would be their largest lead of the game at two, 11-9. Ouachita would then go down by eight before going on an 10-0 run led by
Kendarious Smith who had six points in the sequence. After taking the lead at the 6:04 mark the Tigers would be outscored 11-2 and go into half down 38-29.
In the second the Tigers would allow Southern Nazarene to extend their lead to 17 before going on a 10-2 run capped off by
Eric Brown free throws.
Eric Brown would not stop their as a few possessions later he would make a three pointer to bring the game within eight at 54-46. A
Mahlon Martin three, jumper and an
Allie Freeman bucket plus the foul would bring the Tigers within six with 7:30 left. After that point the game became a free throw shoot out as Ouachita would force Southern Nazarene to shoot 18 free throws in the final four minutes.
