Arkadelphia- In a battle of old foes the Ouachita Tigers came away with a good win on Monday morning against conference rival Northwest Missouri. The match was moved indoors to Ward Tennis Center due to rain. Ouachita claimed the doubles point with wins by #2 doubles team Dan Kaplun/Tobias Fuerschuss and #3 doubles Carlos Solorzano/Matias Parzajuk.
In singles sophomore Francisco Oliveira won handily at the @ singles position to move the Tigers to a 2-0 lead with he first team reaching 4 points being the match winner. Senior Juan Moncada, ;laying line 4, claimed the 3rd point. Fellow senior Dan Kaplun clinched the match with the 4th point at the #1 singles position. Senior Nair Adi claimed the last of the Tigers 5 points with a 6-3, 7-5 win.
Coach Craig Ward said,"Anytime you can win against Northwest Missouri you know you are playing good tennis. Mark Rosewell is one of the finest coaches in college tennis. we always know our best will be required when we face a Bearcat team. I though we did a good job of focusing on our movement and not letting up. This win should give us confidence going into San Antonio."
Ouachita will next be in action March 13-15 at the San Antonio Collegiate Championships. The Tigers will face the University of Indianapolis at 9AM Friday, March 13. The tournament headquarters is the Northside Tennis Center in San Antonio.
