ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team concluded its stretch of four home games in as many days on Sunday with an 8-5 loss to St. Cloud State.
The Tigers plated four runs in the bottom of the fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead, highlighted by back-to-back run-producing hits with two outs. G. Allen hit a two-run double down the right field line, and Cade Burris followed with a two-run homerun, his first round-tripper of the year.
The Huskies regained the lead with three runs in the top of the sixth, and the Tigers responded with one in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Jud Arrington to tie the game at five.
SCSU took the lead with one run in the seventh, and added one run in each of the eighth and ninth innings for comfort, all the while keeping the Tigers scoreless.
Of Ouachita's seven-hits in the loss, two came from Arrington, and one each from Isaac Nowell, Allen, Burris, Pierce Mitchum, and Noah Bachman.
Of the eight runs given up by four Tiger pitchers, only four were earned due to fielding errors.
The Tigers open Great American Conference play next weekend at home in a three-game series against Southern Nazarene.
