NO. 3 MULERIDERS TAKE TWO

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team opened its three-game Great American Conference series against No. 3 Southern Arkansas at home on Sunday with a pair of losses to the Muleriders by final scores of 5-1 and 13-2.

In the first game, both teams were held scoreless through the first four innings before SAU found the board for one run in the fifth, three in the sixth, and one in the seventh. Ouachita's lone run came in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI single from Jaxon Chaney.

The Tigers had four total hits in the loss, spread out between Chaney, Cade Burris, G. Allen, and Dustin Bermudez.

In the nightcap, the Muleriders jumped out to a quick lead with five runs across the in the top of the first inning, but were then kept quiet over the next three innings with only one more across in the fourth. In the meantime, the Tigers got on the board with a pair in the second inning, one on an RBI double by Noah Bachman, and the other off a Mulerider error.

SAU put up another five-run inning in the fifth, and finalized the scoring with two in the top of the seventh.

Ouachita had five hits in the game, two from Bachman, and one each from Burris, Jud Arrington, and Isaac Nowell.

The Tigers look to avoid the sweep on Monday in the series finale set for 11 a.m. at Rab Rodgers Field.
