ARKADELPHIA – Cooper Timmons went the distance on the mound and G. Allen delivered three doubles to lead the Ouachita Baptist University baseball team to an 11-1 win over East Central on Friday at home.
The win gives the Tigers (25-18, 17-11 GAC) their first 25-win season since 2015, and keeps Ouachita in the top half of the GAC standings with just two weeks remaining in the regular season.
Cooper Timmons (7-3) delivered his third complete-game victory of the season, all coming with his team's offensive support with three run-rule victories, including Friday's against East Central (5-36, 3-25 GAC). He allowed just one run on six hits with five strikeouts and no walks.
The Tigers led 6-1 heading into the bottom of the eighth inning, but then pushed across five runs on four hits, all with two outs, to end the game early. The game-winner was G. Allen's third double of the game, this time a two-run shot down the left field line. He had another two-run double in the sixth inning, also an opposite-field shot in the left center gap.
Ouachita doubled up ECU in hits 12-6. Allen and Tallon Heine each posted three hits in the win. Jaxon Chaney and Jud Arrington each had two. Dustin Bermudez managed to post a two-RBI performance despite being hitless in the game. He had a sacrifice fly out in the first and an RBI fielder's choice in the fifth.
