EDMOND, Oklahoma – The Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team has advanced to the finals of the MIAA/GAC Championship Tournament following a 4-0 win over Harding on Wednesday.
The 17th-ranked Tigers (16-3) will be seeking their fifth conference tournament championship and eighth overall conference crown of the NCAA era on Thursday morning against 12th-ranked Southern Arkansas. The match is tentatively set for a 9 a.m. start, and can be moved indoors in Edmond if necessary. The match will be streamed live on The MIAA Network, and live results will be available. In Wednesday's win over 58th-ranked Harding (10-9), the Tigers got off to a good start with comfortable wins in second and third position doubles with Francisco Oliveira and Santiago Kearney winning 6-3 and Tobias Fuerschuss and Fernando Docters winning 6-2. Phil Exner and Alex Blanchar were in a good battle in first position at 5-5 when the doubles point was decided.
In singles, it was Oliveira in first position, Blanchar in fourth position, and Exner in sixth position winning in straight sets to seal the overall match win. Blanchar did need an extra game in the second set to win his matchup.
