WARRENSBURG, Missouri – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team wrapped up the 2022 campaign on Saturday in the semifinals of the NCAA Division II Central Regional with a 19-5 loss to No. 1 seed and tournament host Central Missouri.
It was the second game for the Tigers against the Mules during the tournament. Ouachita opened the tournament with a 5-4 win over the UCM on Thursday.
The Tigers wrap up the season with a 33-24 overall record. Along the way, Ouachita broke a school record conference wins (20), had the first 30-plus win season since 2012, qualified for the Great American Conference tournament for the first time since 2017, and earned a berth into the NCAA tournament for the first time since 2008.
In Saturday's game, the Mules broke the game open with 10 runs in the second inning and added nine more throughout the game on a total of 24 hits.
All five of Ouachita's runs came via homerun.
Jaxon Chaney hit a three-run shot down the left-field line in the fourth inning, his 10th of the season.
G. Allen launched his team-leading 13th homerun of the season in the sixth inning, easily clearing the right field fence to score two runs.
Wyatt Core accounted for three of Ouachita's eight hits with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate.
Cade Burris went 2-for-2.
