ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University men's and women's swimming and diving teams dropped their final home meet of the season to rival Henderson State University.
The women kept it close throughout the meet, and it came down to the wire, but Henderson ended up winning the meet by a close score of 122-112. The Tigersharks won five events and finished near that first-place spot in a majority of others.
The first-place finishers for the Tiger women were:
- Kate McCown in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:04.82, and second in the 500 Free (5:21.32)
- Keilee Holcomb in the 200 IM with a time of 2:09.14 and 200 Fly with a time of 2:09.86.
- Kaitlyn Montgomery in the 200 Back with a time of 2:11.00.
- Abigail Conard in 3-meter diving with a score of172.50.
Other top finishers for Ouachita were:
- Elise Henderson, second place in the 1000 Free with a time of 11:14.92.
- Rachel Del Angel, second place in the 50 Free with a time of 24.55, just .18 seconds behind first and took second in the 200 Fly.
- Didi Christenson took second in the 100 Free with a time of 54.56.
- McCown, second in the 500 Free (5:21.32)
- Bella Howell, second in 3-meter diving with a score of 120.05.
The Tiger men won four events but fell to Henderson by a score of 141-102.
The first-place finishers for the men were:
- Joshua Weston in the 1000 Free with a time of 9:45.82.
- Samuel Woods in 1-meter diving with a score of 254.20, and 3-meter diving with a score of 223.40
- Elijah Christenson in the 200 Fly with at time of 1:53.45, good for a four second margin over second.
Other top finishers for the Tigers were:
- The squad of Barrett Troup, Miles Schulze, Elijah Christenson and Angel Medina, second in the 400 Medley Relay.
- Bryce Benson, second in 1-meter diving with a score of 205.50, and 3-meter diving with a score of 213.40.
- Sam Ragsdell, third in the 50 Free with a time if 21.73, just one second off of first, and second in the 100 Free (46.02).
- Noah Smith, second in the 200 IM with a time of 1:59.30.
- Anthony Paculba, second in the 200 Back with a time of 1:58.97.
- Tyler Andruss, second in the 500 Free with a time of 4:40.72.
- Miles Schulze, second in the 200 Breast with a time of 2:06.86.
- The squad of Jayden Herron, Justin Oulette, Isaac Bourne and Jackson McCaleb, second in the 400 Free Relay with a time 3:09.80.
This was the final home meet of the season for both teams. They are taking on Delta State on Saturday, January 28 in Cleveland, Mississippi before preparing for the New South Intercollegiate Swim Conference Championships in February.
