MEMPHIS, Tennessee — The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team secured its eighth consecutive victory of the season on Tuesday with a 13-0 road win over Christian Brothers University.
The Tigers (20-8) scored their 13 runs on 12 hits, marking the 11th game this season to score double-digit runs and the 15th time to have double-digit hits.
Ouachita also left a zero in the error column in the win for the team's fourth straight game without a defensive miscue.
Ouachita put up a crooked number in three innings with two in the first, six in the fourth, and four in the fifth leading to the team's first run-rule win of the season. The Tigers also scored one in the third.
Four Tigers turned in multi-hit performances in the win, led by
Jaxon Chaney's 2-for-3, five-RBI game, including a three-run homerun in Ouachita's six-run fourth inning. He moves back into a tie with
G. Allen for the team lead in homeruns with five each.
Michael Quinones went 2-for-2 with two walks and a three-run homerun.
G. Allen went 2-for-2 with two walks.
CW Schrader went 2-for-4.
Jud Arrington also homered in the win, a solo shot to cap the fourth-inning scoring.
Ouachita used five pitchers in the combined shutout with
Cameron Marchant,
Jonathan Weiss,
Caleb Donoho, Jaxen Rees, and
Braden Tucker keeping the Bucs (14-20) scoreless on just four hits. The last four of those pitchers combined for three perfect innings to close the game.
The Tigers are back in action this weekend on the road against ninth-ranked Southern Arkansas, which currently ranks second in the Great American Conference standings, just one-game ahead of Ouachita.
