TIGERS TALLY ANOTHER WIN OVER REDDIES

ARKADELPHIA – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team picked up its second win over cross-street rival Henderson State University in as many days on Tuesday with a 5-1 victory over the Reddies at HSU's Clyde Berry Field.

The Tigers (28-10) beat the Reddies (23-17) 13-4 on Monday at Majestic Park in Hot Springs. The two squads will meet again at the end of April for a three-game Great American Conference series at Ouachita's Rab Rodgers Field.

In Tuesday's win, Dustin Bermudez kept his hot streak going by finishing the night just a double away from hitting for the cycle. He started the game's scoring with a solo homerun in the top of the third inning, his fifth of the season, which also extended his hitting streak to 21 consecutive games. In the fifth, Bermudez hit an RBI triple and later scored on an RBI single from G. Allen to help the Tigers go up 3-0. He added a single in the ninth.

Ouachita added its final two runs in the sixth on an RBI double by Wyatt Core and an RBI fielder's choice groundout by CW Schrader.

The Reddies scratched their lone run across in the bottom of the sixth. Tiger pitchers Cade Crossland and Jacob Bowman held HSU to just four scoring opportunities throughout the game. Crossland earned the win to improve to 2-2. He allowed just one run on six hits with six strikeouts through the first 5.2 innings. Bowman earned a 10-out save by keeping HSU scoreless on just two hits with five strikeouts in the final 3.1 innings. It was his first career save.

Ouachita tallied 10 hits in the win, marking the 20th game this season to reach double-digits. The Tigers are now 19-1 this season when getting at least 10 hits.

The Tigers are back in action this weekend at home against Oklahoma Baptist University for a three-game GAC series at Rab Rodgers Field. Ouachita enters the weekend in second place in the league standings, trailing first-place Southern Arkansas University by just two games. OKBU is currently tied for fifth, four games behind Ouachita.
