TIGERS SET THREE RECORDS AT TEXAS STATE

SAN MARCOS, Texas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams broke three school records and climbed their way up the GAC ranks this weekend at the Bobcat Invitational hosted by Texas State in San Marcos, Texas.

There were more than 80 school represented and over 1500 athletes competing in the Bobcat Invitational, from Division I schools to NAIA programs and each level in between and the Tigers found themselves competing at a high level this weekend.

The program record breakers were:

Josh Tibbs broke the school record in the men's 3000M Steeplechase with a time of 9:36.28, breaking his previous record by over 11 seconds. That time earned Tibbs a sixth-place finish in the event, and placed him in second in Great American Conference rankings for the Steeplechase.

Macie Cash broke the program record in the women's 3000M Steeplechase with a time of 11:21.94, breaking the previous record set by Elise Knight earlier this year by 10 seconds. Cash earned a sixth-place finish in the event, and the record-setting time also places Cash in first in GAC rankings.

The women's 4x400M relay record was broken by the team of Alexis Perry, Rebekah Wendt, Ashley Dillman and Jaci McGregor with a time of 4:06.45, breaking the previous record by five seconds and finishing in eight place in the event.

Several other Tigers ran well and either placed high at this meet or moved themselves into the top rankings in the Great American Conference:

Abby Elcan ran a time of 4:47.03 in the women's 1500M, which places her at third in GAC rankings. Elcan finished 14th in the event at Texas State in the A group.

Mackenzie Davis finished second in the women's 5000M with a time of 18:04.14.

Taylor Koeth finished fifth in the women's 5000M with a time of 18:20.53, less than a second out of fourth place.

Caden Callahan now ranks third in the GAC for the men's 400M Hurdles with his time of 55.86 that earned him a top-20 finish in the event at TSU.

Dylan Dew took fifth place in the men's 1500M with a time of 4:02.28, less than two seconds out of second place. Dew also moved up to fourth in the GAC rankings for the 1500M race.

Overall, a total of 15 personal bests were set this weekend in San Marcos, five on the men's team and 10 on the women's team. It was a successful weekend on running for the Tigers.

Next up, the Tigers will be headed to Lawrence, Kansas to compete in the Kansas Relays starting on Thursday, April 13 and ending on Saturday, April 15 at the University of Kansas.
