ARKADELPHIA – The 13th-ranked Ouachita Baptist University men's tennis team defeated 48th-ranked Southeastern Oklahoma State University at home on Saturday by a final score of 4-3.
The team held a Senior Day ceremony prior to the match to honor
Seth Hernandez and
Matias Parzajuk, who are wrapping up their collegiate careers in the next month.
As far as the match goes, the Tigers started out on top after earning doubles wins in first and third positions.
In singles,
Fernando Docters earned the clincher in third position after going to extra points in the second set to win by a final score of 7-5 and 7-6 (7-5). Other winners for the Tigers included
Alex Blanchar in first position over a ranked opponent and
Phil Exner in second.
The Tigers improve to 11-7 overall and 2-0 in MIAA/GAC matches, and look to defend its south division championship on Tuesday on the road against Harding. A win would give the Tigers the outright division crown.
