LITTLE ROCK, Arkansas – The Ouachita Baptist University men's and women's track and field teams ran well against Division I and II talent Friday at the Little Rock Invitational hosted by the University of Arkansas at Little Rock.
The women placed fourth out of the eight teams that competed in the meet. The women also were second among competing Division II teams, including finishing ahead of fellow GAC member Arkansas Tech. The fourth-place finish also put the Tigers ahead of Division I Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
The men's team finished in sixth place, just 10 points out of fifth and also finished second out of competing DII teams.
Reyna Rogers broke the program record in the women's triple jump with a distance of 10.31 meters (33 feet, 10 inches), breaking the previous record by three inches and earning Rogers a top-10 finish in the event.
Top Finishers for the Tigers:
Jaci McGregor took second place in the women's 800M with a time of 2:19.63, just 0.4 seconds out of first place. McGregor finished first out of Division II runners from Southern Arkansas and Arkansas Tech.
Emily Payne placed second in the women's javelin with a distance of 28.02 meters (91 feet, 11 inches).
Xander Neagle placed fourth in the men's 800M with a time of 1:58.11, finishing ahead of all other DII runners and ahead of multiple DI athletes.
Elise Knight placed fourth in the women's 800M with a time of 2:23.26.
Karis Martin finished fourth in the women's long jump with a distance of 5.38 meters (17 feet, 8 inches), tying the school record Martin set earlier this season.
Grace Blocker took fourth place in the women's 5000M with a time of 20:48.27.
Nadia Denman placed fifth in the women's 5000M with a time of 22:48.58.
Ashlyn Hecht finished fifth in the women's 400M Hurdles with a time of 1:09.15.
Abby Elcan finished sixth in the women's 800 with a time of 2:25.30, less than one second out of fifth place.
Next up, the Track Tigers will split between two meets this next weekend. One group will head to Lawrence, Kansas to compete in the Kansas Relays hosted by KU, and another squad will head to Texas A&M-Commerce to take part in the East Texas Invitational in Commerce, Texas.
