NORTHWEST ARKANSAS – The Ouachita Baptist University baseball team opened its participation in the Great American Conference Championship Tournament Final Four with a 6-3 loss to Oklahoma Baptist on Thursday at Arvest Ballpark.
The Tigers (37-16) will now face Henderson State on Friday at 3 p.m. in an elimination game. HSU fell to Southern Arkansas by a score of 4-2 earlier on Thursday.
Ouachita took the early lead in Thursday's game with single runs in the first and second innings.
Wyatt Core hit an RBI single in the first, followed in the next frame with a solo homerun by
Jaxon Chaney, his 11th of the season.
The Bison (31-21) kept the Tigers scoreless in the next four innings while taking a 5-2 lead. Ouachita scored its final run in the seventh inning on a sac fly by
Dustin Bermudez. The Bison finalized the game's scoring with bases-loaded walk in the top of the ninth.
Despite the loss, the Tigers outhit the Bison 9-6, led by
G. Allen's 3-for-5 outing.
