PLANO, Texas – The Ouachita women's tennis team combined for 17 wins at the Marty Berryman Invitational hosted by Collin College over the weekend.
The Tigers competed against Texas A&M-Texarkana, Southeastern Oklahoma State, and Collin College, coming away with team victories against two of the three opponents.
Against Texas A&M-Texarkana, the Tigers won five of the seven singles matchups with victories coming from
Austynn Crocker in first position (6-1, 6-4),
Sadbaroy Kholdarova in third (6-1, 6-2),
Ruxandra Tolescu in fourth (7-6, 6-0),
Olivia Gaston in fifth (6-1, 6-1), and
Shelly Davilus in sixth (6-0, 6-0). In doubles, Kholdarova and Crocker early an 8-4 win in first position.
Against Collin College, the Tigers won five of the six singles matchups and two out of three in doubles. In singles, Crocker won in first position (6-4, 6-4), Kholdarova won in third (6-2, 6-0), Tolescu won in fourth (6-4, 6-0),
Ali May won in fifth (5-7, 6-0, 10-2), and Gaston won in sixth (6-3, 6-1). In doubles, Tolescu and
Natalia Zamora Caprirolo won in first position (9-8) and Davilus and
Marlee Bledsoe won in second (8-3).
Against Southeastern, Ouachita won two of the three doubles matchups and two of six in singles. Tolescu and Zamora Caprirolo won in second position doubles (8-6) and Davilus and Gaston won in third position (8-3). In singles, Kholdarova won in second position (6-1, 6-1), and Blesdoe won in sixth (1-6, 6-3, 10-4).
Once again, freshman
Sadbaroy Kholdarova turned in a perfect weekend in singles and moves her record for the fall to 6-0.
The Tigers are back in action September 22-24 at the ITA Regionals in Edmond, Oklahoma.
