SEARCY, Arkansas – The Ouachita women's basketball team dropped a Great American Conference road game to 14th-ranked Harding on Saturday night by a final score of 64-52.
Harding (16-2, 11-1 GAC) pulled away in the third period for the double-digit win. That 20-10 advantage for the Bisons in the third period followed a tight first half with five lead changes and neither team leading by more than three.
Both teams struggled in shooting throughout the game with the Tigers (7-9, 5-7 GAC) finishing at 30 percent overall (17-for-57) and 14 percent on three-pointers (2-for-14) and the Bisons finishing at 31 percent (20-for-64) and 25 percent on three-pointers (3-for-12). Harding outrebounded Ouachita 49-36, including a 20-12 edge on the offensive glass.
Madeleine Tipton led the way for the Tigers with a career-high 28 points on 10-for-19 shooting. She was also 6-for-6 on foul shots. It was the first 20-point game of her career.
The Tigers hit the road next week to take on Southern Nazarene on Thursday, February 1 and Oklahoma Baptist the following Saturday.
